SFWA Player of the Year

The Committee are delighted to announce the shortlist for the 2024 SFWA Player of the Year.

First presented in season 1964/65 to Celtic legend Billy McNeill, the SFWA award has become a prestigious and cherished prize for players in the Scottish game.

Kyogo Furuhashi is the reigning holder of the title and the likes of Craig Gordon, Steven Davis and Odsonne Edouard have been crowned in recent seasons.

The shortlist this term is headed by Rangers keeper Jack Butland. He is joined by Bojan Miovski, the Aberdeen striker, Celtic’s Matt O’Riley and Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland.

The winner will be announced ahead of the annual dinner on Sunday, May 19 and he will then be presented with his prize to mark a fine campaign.

The Association have already awarded International awards to Scott McTominay and Erin Cuthbert and will also crown their Manager of the Year and Young Player of the Year.
