Cuthbert crowned Women's Player of the Year
Erin Cuthbert has been named the Scottish Football Writers' Association Women's International Player of the Year.
The Chelsea player scooped the prize days after helping Scotland defeat Slovakia in a Euro 2025 qualifier at Hampden.
Cuthbert set up the only goal of the game with a deep free-kick that was headed home by Sophie Howard.
The 25-year-old netted in a friendly win over Northern Ireland in July last year and scored against Belgium in a Nations League draw in Leuven in December. The midfielder has now hit 22 goals in 67 internationals.
Cuthbert is looking to clinch more silverware, following Chelsea's league and cup double last year, before returning to international action when Scotland bid to continue their unbeaten start to their B2 campaign in a double header against Israel.
The former Glasgow City player, who succeeds two-time winner Caroline Weir as the recipient of the prize, said: "It's lovely to be recognised, it's nice to have that recognition for my achievements individually, but it's a team sport and we have to now kick on and be successful and get Scotland to a major tournament."
Cuthbert was joined by Scotland captain Rachel Corsie and Nicola Docherty on the shortlist.
The award will be presented at the 2024 SFWA Player of the Year dinner, sponsored by William Hill, on Sunday, 19 May at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Glasgow.
