Sinclair is the Player of the Year

SCOTT SINCLAIR has capped a sensational first season in Scottish football by being named the Football Writers’ Player of the Year.

The Celtic winger has been outstanding as Brendan Rodgers’ side have dominated ruthlessly on the domestic front and are chasing the Treble in next Sunday’s William Hill Scottish Cup Final.

Sinclair will receive his award tonight and the SFWA awards dinner at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.

Sinclair said: “It’s great to get the award. It just goes to show the collective hard work of the team.

“Personally it’s also good for me to have got my form back on track.

“As soon as I came off the bench and got my goal at Hearts, it’s been non-stop from there.

“Most wide players would be happy with ten to 15 goals. To get 25 is great and shows what I bring to the team.

“But we still have work to do. We have two important games coming up.

“Once that is finished and I go away with the family that’s when I’ll look back at how the season has gone.

“But I’m enjoying every moment of my time here and I’m in no rush to move on.

“This is the happiest time of my career so far.”
