Rodger is top of the bosses

BRENDAN RODGERS has savoured an incredible first year at Celtic after winning the SFWA Manager of the Year award.

Rodgers was the runaway winner after transforming Celtic on the field in so many ways by qualifying for the Champions League, winning the League Cup and romping to the Premiership title.

He will receive his award tomorrow night at the SFWA Annual Awards dinner at Glasgow’s Double Tree by Hilton Hotel.

He said: “The year has gone quickly. It has been pretty surreal, really, when I think of what has happened. It has been full of brilliant football and life experiences. I couldn’t have wished it to have gone any better.

“I couldn’t have wished it to have gone any better. You plan and you work hard and you focus on winning, but what has been really remarkable has been the enjoyment that I have felt in working here with the squad and with the club as a whole.

“I just think there is so much growth left in it. I don’t have a fixed mindset which says, ‘right, this is it.’ I look through the club and I see so much growth here.”
