A special season for James

JAMES FORREST is Scotland’s Player of the Year – making it an SFWA double.

The Celtic star has been voted top performer after a tremendous campaign, adding to the International Player of the Year title he has also won.

Forrest will be presented with both awards at tonight’s 55th annual awards dinner at Glasgow’s Doubletree by Hilton Hotel.

He said: “It’s nice to be recognised, it makes you work harder and keep showing you can do it.

“It’s good when anyone from the team gets an award — the boys are buzzing when it happens because it shows you’re having a good year.

“It’s one of these things where when you finish playing you might look back and see it’s a bigger achievement than you view it as right now.

“We won the League Cup before Christmas then the league title but at this club it’s always about the next one. If we don’t win the Scottish Cup it’d be a disappointment.

“Brendan Rodgers used to say, when you’re winning and being successful you keep wanting more.”
